Its Hot Out There

Well it's that time of the summer when I can't always work in the garden because of the heat.  Today the heat index is well over 100 and it will be all week.  Even going outside at 8 am makes the sweat trickle down your back. I took the boys down the street to see the construction equipment repaving a road and we were all sweaty by the time we got home and it was before 9:30 in the morning!  I watered all of the veggies yesterday and the front yard plants this morning, but I hope everything last week we too full to do yard work and next week will be as well, so I guess it's just Murphy's Law that when I wanted to do some hard work in the yard, it's too hot to even sit outside.  Perhaps I can get it things done this weekend.

With that said, I did harvest our first peas yesterday morning and Landon and I ate them straight from the pods.  They were delicious.  I can't wait to pick more of them.  There are also some tomatoes growing and lots of flowers on the cucumbers and squash.  There may even be a flower starting on a green bell pepper plant but I'm not holding my breath on that one.  Those pepper plants didn't do well last year and they don't look like they will do well this year either.  I'll have to pick a different variety next year.
