Strange Spring

I'm not quite sure when spring began this year.  Normally, I start the garden cleanup in late March and don't really start planting outside until May.  This year, I started lawn cleanup in February when it was in the 70s.  As for the vegetable garden, I already have garlic (fall planting), potatoes, carrots, and sugar snap peas in the ground.  And I think I might have planted them a little late considering the weather this year!  Hopefully, we won't have too may scorching days this summer to punish us for the warm winter.

Projects this year

Last year's project was transforming my South-Side garden into two raised beds.  With that project complete, I think I'm out of room to build new vegetable beds for a while.  So for this year, my goal is to amend my soil and maintain what I have so that next year I can focus on replacing the bushes in my front yard and hopefully, finally get something to grow next to my garage.  If I focus on the soil this year, I'm hoping I'll have an easier time with new plants next year.

What's Blooming in the Garden Now?

Despite the warm weather, it is still early in the year so not much is blooming yet.  The first daffodils opened up yesterday and the crocuses are already gone, but I'm still waiting for most everything to bloom.
