Change of Seasons
With the beginning of the school year comes a change in seasons in the garden. New plants are starting to bloom and the vegetable garden is in full production mode. I've already started canning pickles and frozen squash for later. The first of the tomatoes are turning red and I can't wait to pull out the pressure canner to start canning tomatoes. The orchard at the farm in Michigan is also starting to produce pears so I'm awaiting my first batch of pears to make pear sauce. I've also planted some fall cover crop, fall peas, and fall radish. In the flower garden, the liriope and sedum have started blooming. And finally the fall crop of raspberries are starting to ripen. I love this time of year!
